I picked up my hire car on Saturday 23 August, Bank Holiday Saturday, at Birmingham Airport and spent the night at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport. The next day I had a pleasant drive to Marg and Frank’s home in Loughborough and stayed with them for a couple of nights.

On Tuesday 26 August I drove to Harrogate to stay with Mayumi and Tim.
From the Pinewoods, Harrogate
From Harrogate I drove north to Newcastle upon Tyne to stay at the Staybridge Suites with a glimpse of the Tyne Bridge.
The next day was my 79th birthday I achieved the main purpose of my trip to spend my birthday in the place of my birth, for the first time for 69 years.
