We were dropped at the airport to pick up our Outlander rental car. We rolled down the Stuart Hwy to the Ernunda Roadhouse with the emus, then west along the Larapinta to the Mt Conner viewpoint for our first good view of Uluru.

470 km and 4.5 hours driving brought us to the Ayers Rock Resort at Yulara and the Desert Gardens hotel.

Then it was straight to the Uluru tour with a visit to the Uluru culture centre, a short walk around part of the rock then to the sunset viewing place.

The next day we rose before dawn to do the sunrise at Uluru. It was only 1 degree and we had many extra layers on.
